Congratulations Bianca Galvez and Chanel Garcia - The 2008 Sacramento Leukemia & Lymphoma Society "Teens of the Year"!

Each year prolific members of the Greater Sacramento community vie for the titles of Man, Woman, Celebrity and Teen of the Year. This philanthropic competition benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

The eight-week competition is a testament to the strength and dedication of the human spirit. Candidates will showcase their commitment to the mission as they enthusiastically raise funds to battle blood cancers. From April 23rd to June 21st, candidates rallied with their campaign teams in an eight week effort to seek out sponsorship and donations. The competition was intense with the winners receiving both local and national recognition. From local billboards to USA Today; candidates were honored for their devotion to the fight against blood cancers.

The winners were announced at the Grand Finale Celebration Saturday night at the Hyatt Downtown presented by the Niello Company. The black tie event featured a sit down dinner, silent & live auctions and dancing. We sat on the edge of our seats waiting for the winners to be announced which was kept a secret until after the live auction. We were happy to see Nick Guzzetta win the “Celebrity of the Year“, and were delighted when Bianca Galvez and Chanel Garcia took “Teen of the Year”! Way to go girls!
