The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk To End Alzheimer’s benefits the 40,000 people living with Alzheimer’s and their families in the Sacramento area by providing programs and services, and by helping to fund research to find way to prevent this devastating disease.

Alzheimer's Disease Facts & Figures:

An estimated 5.2 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's disease in 2013. This includes an estimated 5 million people age 65 and older and approximately 200,000 individuals younger than age 65 who have younger-onset Alzheimer's.

In 2012, 15.4 million family and friends provided 17.5 billion hours of unpaid care to those with Alzheimer's and other dementias — care valued at $216.4 billion, which is more than eight times the total sales of McDonald's in 2011

In 2013, the direct costs of caring for those with Alzheimer's to American society will total an estimated $203 billion Alzheimer's is not just a disease of old age. Younger-onset (also known as early-onset) Alzheimer's affects people younger than age 65. Nearly 4 percent of the more than 5 million Americans with Alzheimer’s have younger-onset.
