Alzheimer's Night at Raley Field

As most of you know, I am an Alzheimer's Champion.  An Alzheimer's Champion is one who will OPEN minds and learn the facts about Alzheimer’s to help us educate others, VOICE support, become an advocate, help spread the word about this disease, and MOVE the Alzheimer’s Association’s cause forward by registering for Walk to End Alzheimer's, donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or volunteering for the chapter.  AD is a degenerative, debilitating disease that robs us of our parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, husbands and wives; in other words, the people we know and love, and AD is not a normal part of aging. Here are some staggering facts:

5.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease.
·          One in eight older Americans has Alzheimer's disease.
·          Alzheimer's disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.
·          More than 15 million Americans provide unpaid care valued at $210 billion for persons with Alzheimer's and other dementia's.
·          Payments for care are estimated to be $200 billion in the United States in 2012.

Nine years ago I formed a walk team known as Kelly's Heroes.  As a team we raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association personally as well as our own events The Purple Party, SummerFest, and Ale for Alzheimer’s.
On June 22, 2012, the Sacramento River Cats will host the Fresno Grizzlies at Raley Field for Alzheimer’s Night.   A portion of all the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association's Walk To End Alzheimer's. This is a great opportunity to spend an evening with your kids, friends and families at a River Cats game AND support the Alzheimer's Association at the same time.
We MUST sell 500 tickets in order for the players and managers to wear the special minor league approved PURPLE hats.  There will also be additional purple hats that will be autographed,    auctioned, sold and proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association  We would encourage all      attendees to wear purple attire.

Tickets are discounted and available online at www.rivercats.com/fundraisers. Once on this web address, please scroll down to "Alzheimer's Kelly's Heroes" under Partnering Organizations and follow the prompts to purchase tickets (Offer Code: Memory).

I thank you in advance for joining me in the fight against Alzheimer's.
Sincerely,
Kelly
