Saturday, April 18th - K9K Walk To Cure Canine Cancer






Join the Sacramento Valley Boxer Club and many other K9 Walk Teams this Saturday, April 18th, 2009 for the K9K Walk To Cure Canine Cancer in Elk Grove Regional Park in Elk Grove, California.

100% of walk registrations and donations go to benefit Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign to fund canine cancer research.

A panel of experts will discuss cancer prevention, wellness, cancer research, treatment and how to be an advocate for your dog's health, featuring:
Dr. Steven Crow, Oncologist and Director of VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center
Dr. Michael Kent, Associate Professor, UC Davis Veterinary School of Medicine
Dr. Nancy Kay, Staff Internist VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County and Author of "Speaking for Spot: Be the Advocate Your Dog Needs to Live a Happy, Healthy, Longer Life."
12:30 PM - Drawings & Awards

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day! The Walk Area contains a shaded picnic area that seats 500.

Can't attend the walk but want to be a part of the cure? Register as a virtual walker on the K9K website and receive a bandanna, awareness band and the satisfaction of being part of the cure!

Thanks for the info about the Canine K event - great cause and looks like a wonderful program. I learned about Dr. Kay when I heard her Marth 19th on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross - freshair.npr.org.

Terry has an excerpt from Dr. Kay's book and the interview is well worth listening to - what a wonderful, compassionate veterinarian - our dogs are lucky.

I hope we can raise lots of money for cancer research on Saturday. It sounds like a woofing good time.
