May is the the start of the Stone Fruit season, with cherries leading the way! Local Strawberries are also in abundance!
It is important to support the markets! They can bring the farmers into town, but if the community does not consistently support the markets by shopping there on a regular basis, then the farmers stop attending and find other markets. We are in great competition with Bay Area markets for good farmers. In the Bay Area, the farmers can get much more per pound than they can get in Sacramento.
