Earth Hour brought millions of people around the world and across the United States together on Saturday, March 29, 2008 to make a bold statement about climate change. Together everyone turned out their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - from 8 to 9 p.m. local time.
While the lights were out, we, on Harkness Street in Sacramento, had a "blind champagne tasting" party by candlelight. The winner of the highest rated champagne won a "Bee Happy" eco-friendly bag full of eco-friendly products such as energy saving light bulbs, eco-friendly dish soap and kitchen cleaner, bio bags, an Earth Hour music CD, and a "be kind to your skin" packet from the Northern California Laser, Skin & Surgery Center and Brittany. The winner was Mark & Debbi for their Story Champagne.
